Entering the second leg of the tie with an away goal advantage, United take the lead early in the 2nd half thanks to Ramos' own goal. When everything seems to be working fine for the Red Devils, Nani gets a red card and Ferguson's team is down to ten men. Mourinho quickly subs Arbeloa with Modric, hoping to increase his dominance in the midfield, but Fergie reacts with substituting Van Persie with hard working Rooney, who acts as an auxiliary midfielder and presses Modric when he has the ball. Then the Scot subs Giggs and Welbeck with Valencia and Young, and the remaining half hour of the game is basically United parking the bus against waves of Madrid's attack. In the end, United succeed to keep their one goal advantage, defeating Mourinho with his own weapon.
