LB, RB, will stay in their respective quarters until the cdm moves back, where they will move to the side to make space for a center back (cdm) LW, RW will stay in their respective wings until CDM is moved back as a center back on a counter attack/ based on situation, where the LW and RW will move closer and close up the space in the middle.. LW and RW essentially become LM and RM CDM will almost never go into box unless its a corner or its urgent. LS and RS will strike, receive passes and long balls, and pass to each other, utilizing LW and RW and CDM. CDM will connect the plays and act as a false 9: A false nine is a centre-forward who repeatedly moves towards the ball in deeper positions from a high starting position, often dropping to receive centrally. The main intention is to get on the ball away from the opposition centre-backs – and, in doing so, to draw players out of position and disrupt the defence. In the case the CDM moves back, LS and RS will widen out to become a LW and RW. In summary: The formation relies on passing and team IQ, where LB and RB are expected to give long balls to the LW, CDM and RW. And where the CDM is hoped to link up passing play between LW, RW, LS and RS. on a counter, the CDM is expected to become a CB, and RW and LW become RMids and LMids, and LS and RS are hoped to become LW and RW. this 3-2-2 to 2-1-2-2 to 2-2-3 transforming is the best theoretical formation for an 8v8 game.
