I'm thinking about the 4-1-4-1 formation. I like the idea of the holding mid/stopper in front of the back four to break up play, act as a stopper, to mark another team's #10, and to distribute the ball. I think Lalo is suited well to play that position. I also see Tanner or whoever else acting as a lone forward, but more as a false 9 striker to hold the ball and set up/combine with two central attacking midfielders who can make runs into the opponents defensive third and try to get behind their line or rip a shot (one could hang back if we were getting beat in the middle) - in this case Alan and Jacob. The wingers provide width and could be dangerous in the attack, but would also have defensive responsibilities to help relieve the wing back (one of which I'd like to try to get involved on attack). Thoughts?
