Chelsea sat deep, mainly due to being in front early on. United lacked width with Lingard and Sanchez drifting infield and Rashford not running in behind. Often, the three centre-backs had no one to mark and United had to try efforts from range. Chelsea's attacks were mainly counters, with long passes looking for the movement of Hazard.
