This was the setup when Barcelona had the ball. Both wingers tucked in narrow, with the full backs (especially Alba) overlapping and offering width. Messi and Coutinho would drop into number 10 positions, and in the first half, when Barcelona had more of the ball, Liverpool had trouble stopping the wingers from getting the ball in space. There would be a 4 vs 3 in the midfield space in favour of Barcelona, becoming a 5 vs 3 at times when Busquets pushed up into midfield. Messi found space and made some good passes. Only good reading of the play from Matip and Van Dijk prevented more clear chances falling for Barcelona. When Liverpool dominated possession in the second half, this formation wasn't seen as much.
