Fluidity of movement and passing are incredibly important. CB's must be good passers of the ball, CDM must be strong and confident in pressure. Responsibility of the two CM's to find spaces and advance play. More advanced CM is creative force and paired with the slower of the two inverted wingers. Wingers must come inside to create overloads and allow space for overlaps from the wide defenders, or to make runs themselves. ST plays as a front-nine/raumdeuter type position, responsible for linking up play and finding opportunities. In defense, the wingers must drop back to create a 4141 from a 433. Defending should focus on constriction of the midfield and defense with an attacking mindset. How should we defend such that when we win the ball, we are in the best possible position for a counterattack. Therefore, defense in this system requires concentration and patience, conserving energy and waiting for the correct time to press, winning the ball cleanly and immediately counterattacking, utilizing the pace of all three front players. Therefore, all players, specifically the four wide players, must be in excellent physical condition.
