3-4-3 Diamond formation The formation that really put Barcelona on the map as true champions and one which i feel Arsenal now has the players to currently excel using. Note; Carvalho is currently rumored to be linked with a move to Arsenal, if this was the case then i feel he would get the nod over hayden, but as of this time nothing has materialized. Players with pace, who are comfortable on the ball and can pick a pass in every position on the pitch It looks a very offensive formation but with gibbs and chambers anchored and not given the usual directive to bomb forward and hayden strict in his duties at holding steady in deep midfield it actually gives a more defensive base than we currently employ. For example last season many times sagna and gibbs both found themselves high up the pitch as possession was turned over and we were counter attacked. with arteta or flamini (the usual choice for DM) also too high up and lacking pace enough to effect the break it was normally left to just two defenders (Kos and BFG) to stop the onslaught, requiring BFG to find pace that he does not have. its not without its disadvantages though as seen through the lack of width.
