The left-forward (Ronaldinho for most part) consistently cutting inwards; in previous years, his positioning and movement was similar to the right-forward but as he became the fulcrum of the team, he would receive the ball from the edge of the area and the centre-forward (Eto for most part of it) was an intelligent forward who drew opposition defence apart with his off-the-ball movement. The Right-forward (Usually Messi) however, receive the ball from wider positions and then drive inwards. He has sinced stopped to play this way though, now assuming the role Ronaldinho filled for few years, Messi constantly receive the ball from even more central position this days. Due to the movement of the forwards, the midfielders intelligently rotated and filled up the spaces left by the forwards. This don't happen every time though, only when the full-backs sit back and they dont do that always. Hopefully this should tell a lot about why DMFs aren't so popular in Spain, From Edmilson, to Yaya to Busquets. They hardly crossed the half-way line. Interestingly, both Marquez and Pique are ball playing CBs, Puyol had no problem with the change in personnel
