With Alex still injured, she should play up front, but as a false nine- coming back to collect the ball in the middle and then distribute to the wings (either toward the corner flag or the post - see the illustration for what I mean. This way we're still able to utilize her skills, but we're not asking her to cover on breaks or make forward runs that her leg won't let her make. Additionally, we can send one of our central defenders forward, to run off of Alex's shoulder and into the channels, playing one-twos. Defending against the first team, we need to be aware of backside runs- if I remember correctly, they had one or two back-post tap-ins, and two one-v-one breaks (and a ridiculous cross/shot that I really should have kept out). So commit forward when we can, but be ready to get back at speed.
