The strength of this side is the fact that everywhere you look there are possibilities for triangles. One of the problems that United have had recently is their inability to join up defence with midfield effectively to build an attack through possession football. If you look at this formation you can see that anywhere from defence there're easy triangles linking up with midfield. The midfield itself has got energetic creative players with pace on the left wing through DiMaria and invention on the right wing through Rooney, these players are able to interchange to cause problems tactically for opposition defences.
