Defence Dan unavailable, back 3 seems to work better and allows us to play 2 strikers without losing out in the midfield. Playing Tristan on the left gives Thomas A some cover. Midfield Playing Hugh a bit deeper gives us greater passing options plus also covers their strongest player (Lewis S). Jack and Hugh should be able to control the middle of the pitch and deny service to their strikers and we can look to get the ball up to Toby and Cameron as much as possible. The two wing backs need to be disciplined and track their opposite number but also give a good outlet for Jack and Hugh. Max R has an excellent through ball but needs to track back to stop us getting outnumbered. Given Hugh is likely to bomb forward quite a bit, we are heavily reliant on Jack to keep things tight in front of the back 3. Strikers Chamberlayne are really slow at the back and Toby should be able to exploit that with his pace. Although I was tempted to play Jasper, his impact as a sub plus Cameron's excellent performance means that I think he makes the better starter. I will likely look to bring Jasper on part way through the first half and then again for much of the second. Substitutes Alistair, Harry, Jasper, Patrick, Thomas R Alistair > Max R: Alistair offers us options in the AM role but could also come on in DM if we need to push Hugh forward. Played really well last week as a holder but might wait until next week's easier game to re-test that. Harry > ?: Our enigma! If he's switched on he's one of our most versatile and talented players and could play anywhere. If all's going well, will look to link him with Cameron to see if that helps his game/attitude. Jasper > Toby/Cameron: It goes without saying that he is the key sub. Chamberlayne are petrified of him and when they start to tire, he's the last player they want to see coming of the bench! He's unlucky to miss out but Toby tends to start matches better and I'm not sure about playing both at the same time. Patrick > DM role: He gives us good options in the midfield, if he can work on his ability on the ball, he could nail down a regular starting spot. Will look to give him a lot of playing time versus Fareham next week. Thomas R > Max F/Thomas A: I think it limits our attacking options if we play both Thomas's at the same time in this game. However, if we are struggling defensively, Thomas is the best defender on the bench and can do a key job across the back 3 or as a wing back. He will get plenty of matchtime against Fareham next week.
