A fluidt 442 that gives the team the ball dominating shape of a diamond system when in possession. The chief threat to the opposition comes from the two wide forwards whose tasks are to attack the channel between wide-back and centre back. A midfield full of playmakers will ensure regular through balls in these danger zones for the opposition. Bobby Charlton will be tasked with making direct runs into the space created by the opposition dropping deeper. The 2-6-2 shape of the team when in possession will ensure the team can keep circulating the ball until the opportunity for a through-ball opens up. Defensively, the team can retreat into an organised, compact 442 shape until a counterattack opportunity develops.
